Song Quotes

Since I am bored now, might as well blog some of my favorite songs.

The art of LYRICS. Writing lyrics that touch the heart is very difficult, certainly when it’s supposed to mean something.

Techno songs are fucking crap shit. “Ah, you touch my TRA LALA, erm, my DING DING DONG…” Can anyone with that bit of intelligence tell me wad is ding ding dong? At least rock just simply says “Penis” or “Dick”.

What about R&B, hip hop? Ok, first they goes “Let’s party” and “I got humps, humps”, and then they go “Fuck let’s take drug!” and “Boo! Get it low, do it down low, do it in slow motion, I like it when u twist it like tat.. (it as in guy’s most prominent lower anatomy)”. Or worse, the R&B artists start hiring some Sesame Street characters to feature in their songs. Then you start having crap like “Lonely, I am Mr Lonely….”

And do I need to tell u about pop music? *Roll my eyes*

Lyrics, my friend, is an Art. And only Rock music ever cares to give a meaning to lyrics, in today’s over congested music industry. (Ya, techno can go kiss my ass.)

So here’s my tribute to some of the most beautiful lyrics I have encountered in my contact with music.

“The things she said, I am rehearsing them.” – Saosin, Bury Your Head.
- Simple yet tells you something deep about how a person miss another.

“Nobody’s perfect, and I stand accused.
For the lack of a better word,
and that’s my best excuse.”
– Green day, Dearly Beloved (in Jesus Of Suburbia)

“You’re a butterfly in the wind without a care,
A pretty train crash to me
and I can’t care…
I do, I don’t, whatever.”
– 311, Beautiful Disaster

“But things can’t be perfect,
all the time that I know…
sometimes we just have to let some things go.”
– Armor for Sleep, Kind Of Perfect

“Compartmentalizing, isn’t realizing,
Because it’s not affecting change in the real world.
So get on with your life and get over mine,
There’s only one world but there’s many different tastes.”
– MxPx, Sometimes you have to ask yourself.

“You could be my unintended,
Choice to live my life extended,
You could be the one I’ll always love.
I’ll be there as soon as I can
But I’m busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before…”
– Muse, Unintended.

“T.V., what do I need?
Tell me who to believe!
What’s the use of autonomy
when a button does it all? “
– Incubus, Idiot Box
- The interpretation of television.

“And if my lungs still let me breathe,
Would you be there for me?”
– Silverstein, Smashed to Pieces.

“I can’t see that thief that lives inside of your head
But I can be some courage at the side of your bed.”
– Our Lady Peace, Thief.
- A song for a small cancer girl, whom Our Lady Peace visited.

To me, these are real lyrics. All the “ding ding dong” and “My boo” can scram off.

Rock on.
